City issues arts grants
Cincinnati Enquirer, OH – May 11, 2007, by Jackie Demaline

The City of Cincinnati’s Arts, Culture, Tourism and Marketing committee closed out the $131,000 remaining in its Capital Improvements for the Arts Fund, with nine grants ranging from $1,500 to $50,000, all tied to economic development and neighborhood revitalization.

Gifts to neighborhood arts centers should mean more well-equipped performing spaces starting as soon as September.

The grants, starting with the largest:

Clifton Cultural Arts Center, $50,000. The proposed center consists of the 1906 Clifton School (adjacent to the new Fairview German Language School). It will offer 53,000 square feet of classroom, performance and public exhibition space, and the Hannaford-designed Carriage House, which will house a multi-functional workshop and performance space.

An open house is planned at Cliftonpalooza from 3 to 7 p.m. on June 10, featuring many local musicians as well as tours of the Carriage House and activities for kids.
